The 35th Snow Joke Half-Marathon • Seeley Lake. 11:00 a.m. 11:00am. The Snow Joke is a timed footrace run during mid-winter in a remote community with potential for cold and heavy snow. The average high temperature on race day in nearby Missoula is 41 degrees, but record lows have dipped well below zero. The race organizers intend to hold the event regardless of conditions. Partcipants should come prepared for the weather. USATF Montana Championship – Entrants are encouraged to register with USA Track & Field before the race at http://www.usatf.org/membership/. G.A.N. Warrior Benefit Run • Corvallis. A family of young boys, Levi (age 5), and twins Alan and Aaron (age 4) were diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN). The inherited genetic disorder will slowly cause the boys to lose control of their bodily functions. Without some kind of intervention, the prognosis is that the boys will become bedridden and eventually die from the disease. Community of the Ravalli County are rallying to help them raise enough money to participate in clinical trials. Hamilton High School Key Club is hosting a benefit run to help the G.A.N. Warriors reach their $150,000 goal. Show these brave kids your support--participate in the G.A.N. Warrior Fun Run! The race will be held at the Teller Wildlife Refuge at 1288 Eastside Highway Corvallis, MT 59828. Parking is limited so please come early! We will have people monitoring parking. Come out to McCormick Park at 625 Cregg Lane in the heart of Missoula and participate in the 5th annual Montana Made Run. This race supports and features Montana Made Business and Products, with all proceeds going to the International Association of Firefighters Burn Foundation. Choose from a 5K, 10K, or the 5K Donut Challenge. Both the 5K and 10K are stroller and dog friendly, we just ask that the strollers and dogs line up at the rear of the pack and the dogs are on leashes. Both distances start and finish at McCormick Park. The first 4+ kilometers of the 5K and 10K course are the same. Just after going under the railroad tracks near Hickory Street the two courses separate with the 10K continuing out into the River Road area and the 5K heading back to the finish. This event is for competitive and non-competitive runners. Awards are for both distances and will be given to top 3 overall as well as 1st place in each age division. There are 6 age divisions. Those who choose to participate in the Donut 5K challenge will be required at each mile mark to eat the number of donuts for which mile they are at. That means 1 donut at mile 1, 2 donuts at mile 2, and 3 donuts at mile 3. A total of a half dozen donuts will be consumed. Donuts must be consumed at that mile mark and cannot be eaten while running. Awards will be given to the top overall male and top overall female in the donut division. Entry fee is $15 for the traditional 5K and 10K and $17 for the donut 5K challenge. Entry includes a raffle ticket for great Montana Made products along with a meal ticket for the BBQ featuring Montana Kobe Beef Burgers. This annual fixture of the Gallatin Valley features both a sprint distance race and a long course race, with options for all abilities. As in past years, there will be a relay division for teams of 2-3 and a junior division for triathletes aged 16-19. The long course race is the only half Iron-distance triathlon in Montana, and consists of a 1.2 mile swim in the pond, a 56-mile out-and-back bike up scenic Bridger Canyon Drive and over Battle Ridge Pass, and a 13.1-mile lollipop-loop run in the Bridger foothills on mostly paved surfaces. The sprint race is a 750 meter swim in the pond, followed by a 20-kilometer out-and-back bike and a five kilometer out-and-back run that finishes with a lap around the lake. Both races are fully supported with aid stations. participation is limited to the first 250 registrants. Race organizers hit that number and closed registration two weeks before the race last year, so register early. Registration fees go up April 1 and again on May 1. There are great climbs up Middle Cottonwood with a challenging water crossing, winding across the Bridgers and down Sypes Canyon. Pony Trot 5K & 10K Run • Pony. Beginning at the Pony Park, the 5K course goes toward Hollowtop Mountain, up to the North Willow Creek bridge and back. The 10K has the same start as the 5 K, but continues right at the forks toward Cataract Lake, on to Pony Creek, then back to the park. The course is hilly, so don't expect to break your 10K record, but you will have great views. People who would like to walk the 10K can start an hour early. There is approximately 200 meters of wide trail so hurry and get in position, because it turns to single track after that. This first section is rolling hills for 1.7 miles with some technical sections. 4th Annual Run the Big Hole • Wisdom. This is a great opportunity to experience the Big Hole Valley and the Big Hole Battlefield. Register for a walk or run of this 5K & 10K. This event promises a beautiful route and it allows dogs on leashes! Bring the kiddos too, we'll have special prizes for their participation! 8:00AM packet pickup. Race begins at 10:00 AM. For 2013 we are coordinating this run with the Big Hole Battlefield. On August 9, 1877, gun shots shattered a chilly dawn on a sleeping camp of Nez Perce. By the time the smoke cleared on August 10, almost 90 Nez Perce were dead along with 31 soldiers and volunteers. Mark your calendar for this community run/walk and experience this National Park created to honor all who were there during the Battle of the Big Hole. Quality of Life Run • Billings. The 10th annual Quality of Life Run features a 5-mile run that starts on top of the Rims and a 2-mile run/walk beginning just below the Rims. 33rd running of the Teepee Creepers Classic Run • Held in Crow Agency, Mt during the world famous Crow Fair Celebration. This unique and fun 5k course takes the runner throughout the authentic native american encampment known as the Teepee Capital of the World which consists of 1300-1500 teepees. Race #2 SQUIRREL MAYHEM • Great Falls. Great Falls/Race MT running Club 2013 Trail Series. 8 am start. Lewis & Clark Overlook 7.97 miles Race starts at Lewis & Clark Overlook which overlooks Rainbow Falls. I know it will be hard to take your eyes of the spectacular scenery; quite possibly you can enjoy it on the way back,… or not. The first several hundred meters of the race will be on a paved bike trail, and then you will be diverted onto single track. The race consists of single track with several jeep trails to follow until you reach Cochran Dam. Here you are just short of the ½ way point and the way back is mostly technical single track. Hopefully you have a lot left in the tank. Remember what goes down must come back up. Dogs are welcome for this run and need to be on leash. An extra fee of $5.00 for pets will be assessed. Donations and additional funds collected for furry runners will go to the humane society. Limited parking, carpooling is recommended. Water and snacks will be provided at start and finish and at three points on the course. Water ONLY, at approximately 2 miles, at turn around and 2 miles from finish. Kid’s fun run to be held after. 15th Annual Sourdough Surge 5K Race • Bozeman. The Sourdough Surge is a 5K race that the MSU Exercise Science Club is putting on as a fundraiser to help pay for our club's annual trip to the Northwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine Conference in Wenatchee, WA. Some of the proceeds will also be donated to Eagle Mount. Costumes are not required for the race, but the contestant dressed in the costume will win a prize! Livingston Education Foundation 5K Zombie Run Livingston. Sacajawea Park, Race Time: 9 AM (Free kids 1K at 8:30 AM for 12 and under) Overview: Participants are issued a race belt with 3 flags. As they run through a 5K course starting and ending at Sacajawea Park, "zombies" attempt to capture their flags. Runners with at least one flag remaining at the finish will qualify for age group award prizes. The race is open to brave 10 year old and up. Zombies do not discriminate based on age, so those that might be frightened should participate in the free kids run instead. The Zombie 5K is a portion of an entire weekend of festivities, including the Billman Creek Boogiemen Haunted House, which takes place Friday and Saturday nights, October 25th and 26th. Packet pick-up will take place at the Haunted House location. Cost: The $40 race entry fee includes a long sleeved technical shirt (if registration is received prior to October 1st), a ticket to the Billman Creek Boogiemen Haunted House, and a finisher's medal. 100% of race proceeds go to Livingston Education Foundation to support Livingston's public schools.
