(SHATS) Race #3 - Goats in the Dark: Friday, - 9 PM, Tubbs Trailhead, 3.2 miles of fun in the dark. This race is B.Y.O.H. - "Bring Your Own Headlamp." The course makes a single loop along the Ambrose & Diretissima Trails, with a finishing sprint on Le Grande Cannon Blvd. Course is marked by glow sticks. The Color Run • Missoula. The Happiest 5K on the Planet.


SQUIRRELS IN THE HEADLAMP (trail series event #3) Great Falls.  You do not have to run the entire series to participate and walkers are welcome.  Kids fun run will follow.  Distance 3.11 mile trail run at night.  Start time is 8 PM.  BYOH (bring your own headlamp) The run is all on single track except to first couple hundred yards which is a wide gravel path.  It is too bad it will be dark because this is really a beautiful area.  You may want to come early and explore Ryan Dam island and have a BBQ and enjoy the breath taking views of the falls.  There are  trails located on the island and on either side of the trailhead. 2nd annual Big Bear Stampede • Gardiner. The 5k and 8k trail races are run in the shadow of Yellowstone National Park at an average elevation of 6,500 feet. Both courses have near constant views of Yellowstone and Electric Peak (highest peak in the Gallatin Range). Registration: For more information, check out the event website at


CASH COULEE HALF MARATHON • Conrad, MT -Starts at 10:00 AM. Cash Coulee is a looped course that offers beautiful views of our local wheat fields set in the back drop of the majestic Rocky Mountains.  The course is run on a mix of pavement, gravel, and dirt road.  There are 4 aid stations along the way to provide runners with ample support.  New this year there will be a free daycare service provided right at race central so that both mom and dad can run the race. Awards will be given to the first place male and female runners.  This is a perfect course to run you first half marathon on or to set a new PR.  To register and find out more about our event visit our website at or email us at

The Montana Tech Bookstore is sponsoring a Textbook Scholarship Fund 5K Walk and Run on the morning of Homecoming, September 20, 2014. The run will begin at 9:00 am at the Montana Tech HPER, 1300 W. Park. The proceeds from the run will go to the Textbook Scholarship Fund helping students in need. 4th Annual Race for Freedom Missoula in celebration of National Recovery Month.  Details: A 5K (and a bit) fun run/walk. The little extra bit at the end of the race is in honor of women walking in freedom. Location: It starts and ends at the Adult & Teen Challenge Missoula Campus. 3815 S 7th St W Missoula, MT 59804.  Race starts at 9:00am. Registration opens at 8:00am. Pancake breakfast starts immediately proceeding the race. Montana Marathon • Billings.. Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, Team Run The marathon course starts in the community of Molt, west of Billings, and is on paved roads the whole way. It follows Molt Road east, with a minor diversion out and back on Buffalo Trail, across the prairie featuring some impressive early morning views. The race finishes at Pioneer Park in Billings.


Canine Classic at Paws Up • Greenough. The Canine Classic at Paws Up is a trail run/hike on September 21 for you and your dog(s). Runners/hikers can choose from 2- or 5- or 13-mile hikes or timed runs through the beautiful trail system at Paws Up, and can pay a flat $50 registration fee or can sign up to collect pledges. Check-in begins at 9:00 am. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Western Montana, and shelter dogs will be available to accompany you if you don't have a dog.
